Carpet Odor Removal After Water Damage in Comerio, PR

Carpet Odor Removal After Water Damage in Comerio, PR

Carpet odor removal after water damage starts with finding out why the carpet smells. Spraying a deodorizer on top does nothing if the cause is underneath. In most homes we visit in Comerio, PR, the smell comes from wet pad that was never replaced, or a subfloor that stayed damp after the carpet looked dry.

That musty smell is bacteria and early mould feeding on the organic material trapped in the pad and backing. It gets worse on humid days and when the heat comes on. Pet urine that was sitting in the pad before the leak can also come back to life once it gets wet again.

Comerio, PR Wet Carpet Drying handles carpet odor removal in Comerio, PR by testing first. We check the carpet, pad and subfloor with a moisture meter. If the pad is the problem, we pull it and replace it. If the subfloor is holding moisture, we dry it with air movers and dehumidifiers until it reads normal. Then we clean the carpet with hot water extraction, apply an antimicrobial to the backing and seal any stained subfloor area if needed.

This is part of full carpet water damage restoration, and it is the only kind of odor removal that lasts.
